Big fat MEH!!
If you grew up Jewish, as I did, then you know at one point in your life your parents will INSIST you watch this film (along with Neil Diamond's atrocious 'Jazz Singer'). To that I say, "Balls!"
I guess I don't mind the religion stuff, as long as it isn't forced upon me, then I resist.
The film is not all that bad, really, but I just wasn't interested in the whole Jewy business of it all, nor the music and dancing. Plus it's way too loooong. I guess I can respect it for what it is, but watching it was like, um....like, some kind of annoying violin guy playing on my canopy....yeah......
So I'm a self-hating Jew, nu?
I think Darrell loved it though.

You are way worng here. This is a great classic film and any Jew would plotz to hear you think otherwise. Oy, you are mishugenah to think this is a meh movie (as I talk in an old yiddish voice), If Grandpa Joe could hear you know, he'd give you such a zetz on your keppi !

Hell, I'm not even Jewish (though I've dated a couple of 'em - what's the opposite of a shiksa?) and I think this movie was great.

But then, Mitchy hates musicals because he has NO JOY IN HIS SOUL.
