This was a real thrill for me, the whole viewing experience. Stewart Copeland was there in person to present the film and do a brief Q&A afterwards, so it was worth it just for that. The Police are probably my favourite band (after all the heavy metal stuff) and I have fond memories of listening to them since grade 4, REALLY getting into them in grades 5 & 6 (thanks Jeffy!), and I listen to all their stuff consistently to this day. Their box set is one of the few out there worth actually paying money for. I don't believe they have a single bad album, and am glad they went out on top instead of fading out. True talent. NOW, the film - if you're a die-hard fan, you'll love it. I was grinning ear to ear the whole time. If you're a so-so fan you may find it a bit amusing. If you don't like the Police, don't bother, you'll probably just find it indulgent (though it's not, and you're an idiot). It's primarily Stewart-Eye-View stuff, as he's the one filming everything, so you get a lot of Andy and Sting talking and yelling and rehearsing and fooling around in the general vicinity of the camera. There isn't any 'this is how we conquered the world' bravado, or 'we wanted to kill each other towards the end' infighting. For the most part, you are just along for the rags to riches ride - the fans, the HORDES of fans, the hotels, the road, the studio, the jamming, the crew, the tours, the green room, the stage, the in-store autographs.....and for the most part the band is really enjoying themselves. Copeland's voice-over narration provides some input on how they dealt with all these things, how they went from one album to the next, and only touches briefly on the inevitable time to call it quits. His Q&A after the film provided more insight, but you'll never see that, suckers! This film isn't deep, just pretty much a home movie of one of the biggest rock bands ever. A real treat for true fans.

He looks like a lot like Robert Redford as he ages... Sorry to burst your bubble mitchay, but it was you who got me into the police, not the other way round. It started in Grade 9 when you did that project/presentation based on Sting's "Russians". I really enjoyed that album (Blue Turtles), I moved onto Sychronicity, the tape I believe was yours, and then yes, then I became a huge fan, buying all the albums, first in vinyl and then on CD....

funny, I thought he looked more like Andy Dick than Robert redford

You know what Jeff? You're right! I just remember taping all the other Police stuff from you - I had only owned Synchronicity at the time. So I got you into The Police....how come you never followed suit with Slayer?

I tried with GWAR, I tried... but alas Mitchy, I could not be convinced...
| ||
Gee, well I guess if King Diamond didn't convince you, nothing will.

Hey! That's like the gash in MY head...and my nickname is DIAMOND!! Egads! Does this mean something??
