Well, call me ghey, but is that George Clooney ever cool. That guy just exudes charisma. Watching him on the screen just kinda makes me wanna be just like him...

Okay, ghey moment over, back to the movie.

This is a nicely restrained, purposely somewhat contrived comedy - much in the same vein as Reitman's previous two films, Juno and Thank You For Smoking. Although I will say that this film had much less of an edge to it than his earlier work.

I identified with the philosophy of the protagonist, wanting and enjoying leading a life of little attachment, being on the road and existing in airplanes, airports, and hotels. While it is presented as sympathetic pathology in the movie, the little of that life style I have led, I have enjoyed. I have often been heard saying that I am never happier than when on an airplane. (It's killing me that we are on a travel freeze here at work...)

The performances throughout the film are very strong. The writing, plot turns, and directing are all solid. No clichés or stupid hollywood endings. Within the confines of the universe in which this movie takes place, there isn't a false note.

Still, not my favorite outing of recent watching. Because of its contrived nature, it is a bit hard to become completely absorbed and enveloped in the film.

Nonetheless, I still strongly recommend it.
