Forgot to post this...took the BOY and a gaggle of his chums to see this (IN THREE DEE!). A MASSIVE "Meh!" (in THREE DEE!) This movie was basically a throw-away "action" film - I didn't actually care about any of the characters because: a) The GOOD Gods were assholes, b) The BAD gods were wimps (or rightfully ticked off at the GOOD gods - so you were kinda rooting for them) and c) There were SO many Greek military units being destroyed by A and B that I felt as much for them as I do for my units in a large game of "Civilization". Don't get me wrong, the movie LOOKED good and very high production values but it was like looking at Jessica Biel - pretty on the outside but about as deep as an evaportating puddle in July. Add to that an annoying Jar-Jar-Binksish "comic relief" co-demi-god and you have an irritating hour and a half of my life I want back....

Several months ago Mitch & I were preety keen on seeing this (opening day even). Since then we heard the reviews were not too hot and we backed off. I'm sure we'll see it at some point but not in theatres. too bad. This could have been kewl.

I think each of the kewl monsters are basically on screen for about 5 minutes before they're disposed of and forgotten. *Light spoiler warning* The Chimera Perseus is baattling on the cover LOOKS like the main enemy but is basically disposed of like a tissue in a brief battle sequence in his fishing village - it destroys half the village, kills 3/4s of the peasants/fishermen but life and the story goes on as if nothing happens. The Minotaur of legend makes an appearance and is dispatched routinely...even Kronos, the Titan father of all the Gods...pfft, quick attack and done. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezie.

Agreed. All flash but little finish. The monsters/creaturs were a little too easily dispatched, and I found the cyclopses and minotaur not very well rendered at all. The minotaur (pic below) is supposed to have the head of a bull, but here looked like the head of a snotty-faced child. The labyrinth is established as all-encompassing and complexe, but they made it through pretty easily. Kronos looked cool, but as the others, was fairly easily killed off. I enjoyed the mass killings of the armies, but mostly because they were dressed like the logo of the Ottawa Senators, so it was like the gods themselves taking out their anger and destruction on the Sens. Didn't care much for any of the characters and the dialogue was atrocious. Glad we didn't pay for this one.

agree with all the above. This could have REALLY kicked ass. Despite the CGI being top notch and the all round production value through the roof the movie had HUGE holes through out. The labyrinth was so easily solved when it should have taken years (in theory). All creatures were very easily disposed of with very little imagination used on the part of the writers. The minitaur was about as threatening as a fly and reminded me of the guy from The Creature Cantina.

Actually, I don't even think the CG was that great. The cyclopses looked kinda lame - reminded me of Bigmouth from the Smurfs.
